After 1 week of the release of Pokémon Sword/Shield on November 15, despite receiving different feedbacks, The Pokémon Company announced that the game has sold over six million units in its first week to become the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch title so far and earned itself the 8th place on the all-time best-seller chart.

For comparison, the previous record-holder: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which sold around five million units in its opening week and the all-time best-seller: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which has sold around 19 million units.
